The German-Ukrainian Expert Dialogue on Sustainable Development of the Fruit and Vegetable Sector (funded by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture – BMEL) started under very special conditions in Vinnytsia. Together with the Ukrainian partners from the military administration of the Vinnytsia oblast, the Illintsi Agricultural College, and the Scientific-Methodical Center for Higher and Secondary Vocational Education, extensive measures will be taken over the next three years to improve education and training in the sector, as well as to sustainably strengthen the production of fruits and vegetables in the oblast.
Initially, the project will focus on the region of Vinnytsia, in southwestern Ukraine, which has become a key supply region for fresh food in the wake of the Russian war of aggression. Successful approaches of the project can subsequently be extended to other regions of Ukraine. With a total volume of 5 million euros, the project is the largest single project to date within the BMEL’s cooperation projects.
